Drivers’ lucky escape after car and van crash on A5 which hit Nuneaton traffic

Drivers had a lucky escape after a collision between a car and a van on the A5 near Nuneaton^[1]. The collision took place between a red Saloon Vauhall Corsa and a white Mercedes sprinter van on the A5 junction with The Longshoot earlier this morning (August 20).

Police received 999 calls at just before 6.20am to report the collision, which left both vehicles blocking the road. Already a notoriously busy stretch of road, traffic queues started to form and, at rush-hour, there were reports of the impact of the collision hitting the M69, the A47 and the A5 Longshoot.

Fortunately, neither of the drivers were left injured following the collision, according to a Warwickshire^[2] Police spokesperson. West Midlands Ambulance Service was not called into action.
