Drivers who got caught by smart cameras on major road into town
St Peter’s Way on the A666 goes from the M60 Ring Road into the centre of the town.
The road is governed by a 50mph[1] speed limit which is monitored by average speed cameras and well signposted.
The cameras capture the speed at which a driver went between two points on the road rather than capturing speed at a single moment in the way in which other cameras do.
Sufyaan Vaka drove at 58mph while driving a Nissan in June last year.
The 36-year-old was going between Bradford Street and Raikes Lane in a southbound direction[2] at the time.
The case against Vaka was proved at Manchester Magistrates Court.
Following this the man from Church Avenue, Deane, Bolton, was banned from the roads for 18 months.
The reasons given for this were “repeat offending.”
He was also fined £220.
Kelly Jones drove at 61mph in a Peugeot in January this year.
The 42-year-old carried out the offence between Bradford Street and Raikes Lane while heading in a southern direction.
The case against Jones, from Gleaves Road, Eccles, was proved at Manchester Magistrates Court.
Following this she was fined £220 and given three points on her licence.
Anam Ahmad drove at 57mph while driving a Hyundai in September last year.
The 43-year-old carried out the offence between Bradford Street and Raikes Lane while driving in a southbound direction.
The case against Ahmad was proved at Manchester Magistrates Court.
Following this he was banned from the roads for a period of a year.
The reasons given for this were that it was “obligatory due to repeat offences.”
As well as this Ahmad, from Canning Street, Liverpool, was fined £220.
