Firefighters free man from vehicle after car and van crash

An injured man has been freed from a vehicle by firefighters after a crash on the A142 near Soham[1]. Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash at around 9.30am on Friday (August 16), and the road was closed for around one and a half hours.

A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue[2] spokesperson said: "At 9.37am, crews from Ely[3] and Newmarket[4] ( Suffolk[5] ) were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on A142 in Soham.

"Using specialist equipment, firefighters released a casualty, who was left in the care of ambulance crews. The crews returned to their stations by 10.55am."

An East of England Ambulance Service[8] spokesperson said: "We were called just after 9.30am to a road traffic collision involving a car and a van on the A142 near Soham.

"Two ambulances and ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene. An adult man was transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital[9] for further assessment and treatment.”

A Cambridgeshire Police[10] spokesperson said: "We were called at about 9.30am today (16 August) with reports of a collision between two vehicles on the A142 near Soham.

"Reports of injuries are unclear but they are not thought to be life-threatening. No arrests have been made."
