Injured woman cut out of car after A14 crash that saw lorry leave road

An injured woman was cut out of her car after a crash on the A14[1] in Cambridgeshire[2] on Friday (August 9). Emergency services were called to the A14 near Godmanchester[3] with reports of a crash involving a lorry and a car.

The lorry left the carriageway and went onto the verge after the crash, a police spokesperson confirmed. A woman was released from her car by firefighters using specialist equipment.

She was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service[4] spokesperson said: “At 11.29am on Friday (9) crews from Huntingdon[5], St Neots[6] and Cambourne were called to a road traffic collision on the A14.

“Firefighters arrived to find a collision involving two vehicles on the westbound carriageway near Godmanchester. Using specialist equipment they released a female casualty who was left in the care of ambulance crews. The crews returned to their stations by 1pm.”

Two lanes were closed[7] shortly after 11am while the vehicles were recovered. The road had fully reopened by 1.45pm.
