Key route closed after serious crash

A major Somerset A-road is closed in both directions after a serious crash involving a car and a van.

The A303 is expected to be closed for a "number of hours", National Highways said, between A358 Horton Cross and A356 Norton-sub-Hamdon.

Avon and Somerset Police said officers were called to the scene at about 15:30 BST.

The force has advised drivers to avoid the area and said fire and ambulance services were also in attendance.
