Live M11 traffic updates today as lorry fire leaves motorway closed

The M11 is closed due to a vehicle fire near the Cambridgeshire fire today (Tuesday, August 13). A lorry is on fire and the northbound carriageway is shut to traffic between Junction 9 (Saffron Walden in Essex) and Junction 10 near Duxford.

National Highways first confirmed the closure shortly before 7pm. Delays are reported as a result.

A National Highways spokesperson said: “The M11[1] in Essex is closed northbound between J9 Stump Cross Interchange (Newmarket, Norwich A11) and J10 Duxford Interchange (Duxford, Royston A505).

“This is due to a lorry which has caught fire. Due to the nature of the lorry’s load (batteries) it will take some time to bring this fire under control.”

Inrix, the traffic data company, said: “M11 Northbound closed due to vehicle fire from J9 (Saffron Walden) to J10 A505 (Duxford).”
