London dad-of-7 killed in lorry crash on M1 after breaking down and getting out of his car
A man who was hit by a lorry after his car broke down on the M1 has left behind seven devastated children, police say. Michael Stokes, 30, from London, died in the collision with a heavy goods vehicle in the early hours of Sunday morning (August 11). Police believe he was looking for help when he was struck between Junction 12 for Toddington and Junction 13 for Milton Keynes South.
Paying tribute, his family said: “He was a loving member of the family and loved by all who knew him. He was a father to seven children who are all completely devastated at the loss of their dad. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Michael was dedicated to his girlfriend who is completely broken at his sudden passing. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.”
A friend of Michael's also shared broken heart emojis on Facebook, writing: "Genuinely can’t believe it. Rest in peace Michael Stokes. May you get good bed in heaven. Please God watch over his family and children at this sad time. Literally shocked." Dozens of comments from friends and family also shared their devastation at his tragic death.
