M5 and M4 traffic live: Severe delays in West Country after latest incidents on motorways

Motorists are facing delays on the M5 in the West Country. Two lanes are closed southbound in Somerset due to a broken down lorry and journeys are being delayed by up to 90 minutes.

It’s the latest incident on the motorway after motorists heading south into Gloucestershire were delayed after a vehicle fire. All lanes have since reopened following the incident on the southbound carriageway between junction 7 for Evesham and junction 8 for the M50.

And all traffic was held for a short while on the M4 westbound from junction 22 for the M49 to junction 23 for the M48 after a collision. Traffic has since been released

While earlier in the West Country, an obstruction in the southbound carriageway saw traffic temporarily held in Somerset from junction 21 for Weston-super-Mare to junction 22 for Burnham-on-Sea. That is now running clear
