M6 crash LIVE as motorway shut both ways with air ambulance called after horror incident
The M6 has been shut both ways after an accident involving an overturned lorry.
Traffic has been stopped in both directions on the stretch of motorway, from J27 A5209 Crow Orchard Road, Standish. According to traffic alert site Inrix, the accident occurred on M6 Northbound and traffic is also being held in the Southbound direction, LancsLive reports.[1]
North West Motorway Police have posted: "For anyone on the M6 northbound from junction 25, there is a serious police incident ongoing in the Lancashire area between junctions 27 and 28, tailbacks are already causing issues, if you can leave the motorway at junction 25 you will save time for yourselves."
Inrix has posted: "M6 in both directions closed, long delays due to overturned lorry between J27 A5209 Crow Orchard Road (Standish) and J28 B5256 Leyland Way (Leyland). Congestion to the M6 J32 (Broughton Interchange) southbound, and the M6 J25 (Bryn) northbound."
According to the site, an air ambulance is currently at the scene.
