Police and paramedics called as two-van smash shuts North Staffordshire road

Police and paramedics were called to a crash involving two vans this morning - which left a North Staffordshire road closed off. And recovery had to be arranged for the vehicles following the smash in Sandon near Stone.

As reported by StokeonTrentLive[1] the A51 was blocked off near the Hilderstone Road junction. Staffordshire Police[2] say they were called to the scene at around 6.50am - where one ambulance also attended.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to the A51 in Sandon following reports of a collision involving a Renault and a Vauxhall van. Officers went to the scene alongside paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] and closed the road.

"Those inside the vehicles were checked over as a precaution and recovery was arranged."

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "One ambulance attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was assessed and discharged at the scene with minor injuries."
