Police close A259 after ‘taxi crashes into ambulance’

Other ambulances were called in to check the occupants of the ambulance over before taking them to their destination, The Argus understands.

The paramedics were behind the wheel of a transfer van when the two vehicles collided on the A259 near Brighton[1] Marina last night.

Buses were diverted for around 45 minutes due to the crash, which crushed the front bonnet of the ambulance.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "This was a minor collision only and police are not appealing for any further information at this time.

"There were temporary road closures in place from about 10.15pm to about 11pm."

The ambulance was operated by private contractor Elite Medical, who run patient transfers on behalf of the NHS.
