A303 reopens at Somerset border after lorry fire

The A303 was closed following reports of a vehicle fire near the border with Somerset. The busy route was shut between the A360 to the Hindon turn off, with traffic moving slowly in the area.

The fire involved a lorry which was carrying bales of straw, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said. Some delays were reported in the area, which traffic cameras show a completely empty road, with no vehicles at all, within the closure itself.

Traffic monitor Inrix reports: “A303 in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident from the A350 to the Hindon turn off.”

According to Highways, the road reopened at around 2.20pm today.
