A40 crash, Ross-on-Wye: Mystery of death circumstances
A 49-year-old man left his vehicle at the side of the dual carriageway in Whitchurch, near Ross-on-Wye, before crossing the road, and was hit by a lorry. He was pronounced dead at the scene as bystanders tried to care for him.
But police say that the reason why he left his vehicle is “yet to be established”.

In an appeal for witnesses, a police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died in a collision in Herefordshire on September 4.
“The collision occurred at around 5.49pm on the A40 from Pencraig to Goodrich, involving an HGV and a pedestrian. For reasons yet to be established, it’s believed the man had left his vehicle at the side of the road before crossing the road. A 49-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
