Delays on M2 between Sittingbourne and Faversham after three-vehicle crash

Drivers were stuck in hours of delays following a crash involving three vehicles.

The incident happened on the coastbound carriageway of the M2 between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and Junction 6 for Faversham.

Fire crews were called shortly before 7pm following reports of a vehicle fire.

Two fire engines attended the incident, which turned out to be a crash involving three vehicles, and assisted paramedics at the scene before declaring a stop to the incident around an hour later.

Police and national highways officers were also reportedly in attendance.

Traffic had been held at the scene while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at around 6.50pm on Thursday 12 September 2024 following a collision involving two cars and a van on the M2 coast-bound between Junctions 5 and 6.

“Officers attended. No serious injuries were reported.”
