Delays on the A5 near Chirk after a lorry overturns
There are delays near on the Chirk to Llangollen section of the A5 this afternoon (September 4) after a lorry overturned on the Whitehurst island.
Traffic information shows that the flow of traffic in the area is moving very slowly as drivers are directed around the lorry.
One local driver on social media said: “Lorry over turned at the Chirk to Llangollen roundabout not long happened. Traffic building up. Police directing traffic.”
Video and pictures being circulated online, show that the lorry has overturned on the island landing on the verge side of the road.
It appears the road currently remains open with officers directing traffic around the incident.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: “The A5 in Chirk, Wrexham, is currently closed due to a Road Traffic Incident. Emergency Services are dealing. Please avoid the area.
“For diversons, any motorists travelling from Chirk will be advised to head back to Chirk, any motorists travelling from Llangollen will be advised to head back to Llangollen and any motorists travelling from Halton will be advised to head to Gledrid and back through Chirk.”
