AN alleged drink-driver is set to appear in court after a cow was struck by a vehicle on a notorious New Forest animal accident black spot route.
Phelim O’Hara (26), of Wetherby Court, Totton, was charged following the incident on the B3078 Roger Penny Way, by Telegraph Hill, near Bramshaw.
Bailed by police, O’Hara is due to face the allegation at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 12th November.

The collision took place shortly before 9pm on Monday.
Police and partners had been on that road, at Bramble Hill Walk, that morning as part of Operation Mountie, a multi-agency crackdown on speeding and animal accidents.
The proactive enforcement was also carried out at Goatspen on the road leaving Burley and at Horseshoe Bottom by Sethorns campsite.
This was said to have been one of their quietest operations with only seven road users stopped and just one of them – a motorcyclist – ticketed for doing 51mph in a 40mph zone.

The remaining six were spoken to by representatives of Forestry England, the New Forest National Park Authority and campaign group New Forest Roads Awareness.
They were reminded of the importance to stick to the speed limit, especially across the Forest.

Last Thursday, agister Robert Maton responded to a 5.45pm call reporting a brown mare injured in a collision on Burley Road at Brockenhurst.
