Man, 47, fighting for life after being hit by lorry on M62
A 47-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after he suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash on the M62[1] this morning. Emergency services were called to the motorway following reports of the major collision on Saturday (September 21).
West Yorkshire Police say that the man was hit by a white DAF HGV as it travelled along the M62 at 4am. The crash is believed to have taken place just before junction 29, in West Yorkshire, on the westbound carriageway.
The man has been taken to hospital and his injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
YorkshireLive reports[3] that according to National Highways, the M62 remains closed. They said: “The M62 in West Yorkshire is closed westbound between J30 Oulton and J29 M1 following a Police Led Incident.
“Trapped traffic is in the process of being released. Police and National Highways Traffic Officers are on scene dealing with Traffic Management.”
West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian on the M62 earlier today.
“It happened just before 4am, when a 47-year-old man was in collision with a white DAF heavy goods vehicle as it travelled along the motorway, just before Junction 29 of the Westbound carriageway. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are believed to be life threatening.”
