Man dies in lorry crash on A49 near Hereford

An elderly man died following a crash near Hereford. Investigating officers from West Mercia Police are now appealing for witnesses following the collision on the A49 yesterday[1] (Saturday, September 7).

The collision, which involved a pedestrian and a HGV lorry, took place between the turning for the A466 and the turning for Callow at around 7.30am. The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for over seven hours[2] following the fatal crash. Traffic officers issued diversion routes[3] for motorists to follow.

Police are now appealing to the public for information on the crash. They are urging witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
