Teenager airlifted to hospital after three-vehicle crash

A 17-year-old girl has been airlifted to hospital after a three-vehicle crash in south-west Scotland.

The accident happened on the B7079 at its junction with the A712, near Newton Stewart, at about 17:00 on Wednesday.

The teenager – who was driving a white Audi A1 – was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries.

Her 15-year-old passenger was taken to hospital and discharged. The occupants of two other vehicles – a lorry and a Renault Clio – were unhurt.
