Among the people affected by the almost 5-hour closure, were parents and busses on their usual school run.
One school’s pupils in Wells would’ve missed almost the entire day today due to the collision near the city.
Commenting on the unfortunate incident today, The Blue School said: “As you are probably aware, the Stone Easton bus has been delayed this morning due to an accident on the A39.
“The children are all safe on the bus and a member of staff (who happened to be in the traffic queue) is with them.
“We are told they will be delayed by at least 90 minutes.
“We are asking them to stay on the bus until the road is cleared. We will meet them on their arrival at school and make sure all are fine.
“Kind regards, The Blue School.”
