Woman taken to hospital after A1 collision between HGV and car near Chester-le-Street

A woman has been taken to hospital after a crash on the A1 southbound between an HGV and a car.

Just after 2.15pm, Durham police and the ambulance service were alerted to the collision near Chester-le-Street.

The crash took place two miles south of Chester-le-Street^[1], between junctions 62 and 63. A woman in her early 20s, who was driving the car, was taken to University Hospital of North Durham^[2] by ambulance, a precautionary measure due to the head injury that she had suffered.
