A11 traffic diversion route as tanker crash in Norfolk leaves road closed
A traffic diversion route is in place in Norfolk following a crash that has led to a closure today (Thursday, October 31). The northbound carriageway is shut on Hethersett Bypass near Wymondham due to an overturned tanker and fuel spillage.
Emergency services are at the scene and the road has been closed since around 6.50am. Motorists are being advised to find alternative routes.
A National Highways spokesperson said: "The A11 in Norfolk is closed northbound between the B1135 (Wymondham) and A47 (Cringleford) due to a road traffic collision. Norfolk Constabulary, East of England Ambulance Service, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and National Highways Traffic Officers are all en route to a collision involving a lorry that has come to rest on its side.

"There is also a significant spillage of diesel from the collision which will require cleaning and an assessment of the road surface before the road can re-open."
Diversion route:
National Highways has put the following diversion route in place. Drivers are being advised to factor extra time into their journeys.
Exit the A11 northbound at the junction with the B1135 at Wymondham and turn left at the end of the slip road. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the B1135, followed by the 3rd exit at the next roundabout onto the B1172 towards Hethersett
Remain on the B1172 for approximately 4 miles, passing through Hethersett, to reach the roundabout with the services. Take the 2nd exit to continue to the Thickthorn Interchange where you can re-join the A11 or join the A47.
