A14 crash involving ten vehicles closes road and causes severe delays

The A14[1] eastbound was closed near Kimbolton[2] on Monday morning (October 14) after a crash involving ten vehicles[3] between junctions 15 and 16. One person was taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be serious.

Cambridgeshire Police[4] were called to the incident at 6.40am and the road was closed until approximately 8.15am. Some lanes remained blocked until around 9.20am, causing delays to junction 12.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 6.40am today (14 October) with reports of a collision involving ten vehicles on the eastbound carriageway of the A14 near Bythorn. No serious injuries have been reported.

"One of the drivers was taken to hospital as a precaution. The road was closed while the vehicles were recovered."

A diversion route via the A605 and the A1 was put in place. National Highways and traffic data company Inrix reported that the road was fully open at around 9.20am.

However, Inrix said traffic continued to be slow in the incident area. CambridgeshireLive[7] kept readers updated with developments through our live blog below.
