Boy seriously injured after Wolverhampton crash between car and cyclist

A boy has been seriously injured after a crash between a car and a cyclist in Wolverhampton. The crash took place on Penn Road at around 3.26pm yesterday (October 7).

West Midlands Ambulance Service[1] sent an ambulance, two paramedic officers and the Midlands Air Ambulance to the scene. The boy, who was the cyclist, was given advanced trauma care at the scene before being taken to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.26pm to reports of an RTC involving a car and a cyclist on Penn Road, Wolverhampton. An ambulance, two paramedic officers and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene. The cyclist, a boy, received trauma care on the scene for serious injuries before being conveyed by land ambulance to New Cross Hospital for further emergency care.”

It’s the latest crash to take place in the city. A student nurse has been left fighting for her life[4] after a car she was a passenger in was struck by a Land Rover, which was reportedly being pursued by police.

The young woman, called Freya Theobold, sustained multiple severe injuries following the smash on the A449 Stafford Road on September 30. An 18-year-old man has been arrested.
