Car driver dies after van collision

A woman has died after the car she was driving was involved in a crash with a van near the border between South and West Yorkshire.

The collision happened on the Haigh roundabout, close to Junction 38 of the M1, at about 11:00 BST on Friday, South Yorkshire Police said.

The woman, in her 50s, was taken to hospital but died later, according to a force spokesperson.

The van’s driver, a 29-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit and causing death by dangerous driving and had since been released on bail, they added.
