Crash sparks traffic delays both ways on M5
Motorists are being warned of delays on both sides of the M5 after an accident on the southbound route.
Traffic and travel website Inrix noted the matter at 3.26pm today [October 6] stating that all traffic was being "temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident" on the M5 southbound at junction 25 where it connects with the A358 Taunton.
However, the site was updated at 4.08pm traffic was still queuing and residual delayed remained, but an additional issue had arisen.
It stated: "Also slow on the opposite side due to onlookers."
In 2020 Essex Police claimed they would prosecute 20 'rubberneckers' caught filming and taking photos at the aftermath of an accident between and HGV and a crushed Audi.
Laws enforced since 2003 could see motorists receive six penalty points and a £200 fine for using their devices without a hands-free kit.
