Derbyshire live traffic updates as road closed in both directions after crash between lorry and car
Long delays[1] are expected near a Derbyshire[2] village after a "serious" collision between a lorry and a car. The A444 Acresford Road is closed between The Cricketts Inn and Lamberstitch Drive near Overseal - south of Swadlincote[3] - following a crash on Thursday (October 31) morning.
Officers[4] have urged motorists[5] to avoid the area, warning that the road will remain closed "for some time". A spokesperson for the police said: "The A444 Acresford Road is closed between The Cricketts Inn and Lamberstitch Drive following a serious collision between a lorry and a car.
"The road will remain closed for some time - please avoid the area and use alternative routes." The one-mile closure is in place while accident investigation work takes place, according to Inrix.
The traffic monitoring service, which first noted the incident at around 9.50am on Thursday, reports: "The A444 Acresford Road is closed in both directions between Acresford and Moira Road. Accident investigation work is taking place while the road remains closed, with very slow traffic building in the area."
