Dough bros in Taunton serves people on M5 after crash

People were queuing up for hours in their vehicles yesterday, with many unhappy with the long delays to their journeys.

That was until Taunton-based business, Dough Bros, thought of a way to cheer up some of the people who were stuck on the M5.

People were crediting Dough Bros for their "genius" move with many people showing positivity online after long delays to their journeys.

One person on Facebook saw the funny side and said: "Traffic jam doughnuts - I love it!"

Speaking about the idea, a spokesperson from Dough Bros said: "When it feels like there isn't anything you can do..... until you have a brainwave!

"A very surreal moment yesterday - and (we) turned a frustrating situation into a great one with many frowns turned upside down!"

Many areas in Somerset were affected after yesterday's (October 25) M5 crash near Weston, including people in Taunton, as vehicles looked to exit the motorway's standstill traffic.

One person spoke online about their journey: "A39 gridlock just took me over an hour to get to my house in North Petherton."

Taunton's Toneway was "gridlocked" for a while, as Taunton dealt with the M5 backlog of traffic.

People were "very pleased" that the team at Dough Bros thought of the idea to open up due to the standstill traffic and lots of them were showing love online - via Facebook.

One Facebook user said: "It was a godsend!

"This has got to be the only time people were jealous of me being stuck on the motorway as I was sending them messages with donut pictures!!"

Another person said: "Absolutely amazing.

"It was all doom and gloom until we saw you drop the sides of your van.

"The doughnuts were outstandingly delicious and the hot coffee really made my day.

"Thank you!"
