Everything we know so far as M11 lorry crash sees 30-minute delays

A crash involving a lorry and a van[1] has left part of the M11[2] closed. The lorry crossed through the central reservation in the incident on the M11 southbound near junction 11 at around 11.30am this morning (October 11).

Delays of around 30 minutes have been reported by Traffic England, and traffic is expected to return to normal between 6.30pm and 6.45pm. Details of injuries caused by the incident are unclear, but they are not thought to be serious.

A National Highways spokesperson said at 1.23pm: “Following a collision in which a lorry travelling north has crossed through the central reservation onto the southbound, the M11 is now closed in both directions within J11 (Cambridge). Traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads with delays building.”

A Cambridgeshire Police[5] spokesperson said: “We were called at 11.30am today (11 October) with reports of a collision between a lorry and a van on the M11 southbound near junction 11. Police are at the scene, details of injuries are unclear but not thought to be serious.”

Further delays are being caused as drivers slow down to look. Traffic monitoring company Inrix reported at 2.45pm: “M11 Southbound closed, long delays due to accident. A lorry crossing the central reservation involved at J11 A10 Cambridge Road (Cambridge South / Harston).

“Congestion to J13 (Cambridge) southbound and to J10 (Duxford) northbound as traffic slows to look.”
