A teenager is fighting for his life after being struck by a car[1] in Glasgow.
The 18-year-old pedestrian was walking along the footpath on the A81 Maryhill Road near Dalsholm Road on Saturday evening when he was hit by a black Mercedes E220 travelling westbound at around 7.35pm.
Emergency services scrambled to the scene and the young man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital[2]. His condition has been described by medical staff as critical.
The 41-year-old male driver of the Mercedes and his passengers were not injured. The road was closed for several hours and has since reopened.

Constable Scott MacKenzie, Road Policing Unit, Greater Glasgow Division, is investigating the cause of the crash and is appealing for information.
He said: “This can be quite a busy junction and so we would ask anyone who was in the area, who has not yet spoken to officers but believes they may have information that could help our enquiry, to contact us. We would also be interested in any dashcam footage from the road at the time.
“Information can be passed to officers via 101. Please quote incident number 3162 of Saturday, 12 October 2024 when calling.”
