Live A11 traffic updates today as crash in Norfolk sees tanker overturn and road closed

The A11 is closed following a crash that has seen a tanker overturn today (Thursday, October 31). The northbound carriageway is shut to traffic on Hethersett Bypass near Wymondham.

The closure was first reported at around 6.50am. The road is being assessed for damage and a diversion is in place.

A National Highways spokesperson said: “The A11 in Norfolk is closed northbound between the B1135 (Wymondham) and A47 (Cringleford) due to a road traffic collision.

“Norfolk Constabulary, East of England Ambulance Service, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and National Highways Traffic Officers are all en route to a collision involving a lorry that has come to rest on its side. There is also a significant spillage of diesel from the collision which will require cleaning and an assessment of the road surface before the road can re-open.”

Inrix, the traffic data company, said: “A11 Hethersett Bypass Northbound closed, queueing traffic due to overturned tanker transporting cement and fuel spillage from the Wymondham Turn Off (Wymondham) to Station Lane (Hethersett).”
