Live M6 updates as lorry crash shuts motorway

The M6 has reopened this afternoon – leaving two-hour delays. A collision between a lorry and a car closed the M6 northbound – between junction 15 for Stoke-on-Trent South and junction 16 for Stoke-on-Trent North – for more than an hour this afternoon.

It sparked traffic gridlock on the A500 too.

Traffic monitoring system Inrix states: “There are long delays due to an earlier accident involving a lorry and a car on the M6 northbound between junctions 15 and 16. There is congestion to just after junction 14. The southbound A500 is also heavily congested.”

We have contacted the emergency services for more details on this incident.
