M5 huge delays after multi-vehicle crash sparks rush hour chaos
There are long rush hour delays after a six vehicle crash on the M5. National Highways is reporting delays of 45 minutes and five miles of congestion after the crash.
Traffic has been stopped on the M5 in Devon after a crash near Exeter. Two of the three lanes are closed in the northbound carriageway stuck from junctions 29 to 28.
National Highways shows delays in the area and congestion is expected until later this evening.
Traffic monitor Inrix reports: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M5 Northbound from J29 A3015 Honiton Road (Exeter / Honiton) to J28 A373 Honiton Road (Cullompton / Service Area). Held around 16:10."
National Highways said: "#M5[1] northbound between J29 and J28 near #Exeter[2] 2 lanes (of 3) are closed due to a collision involving 6 cars and 1 lorry Delays of 45 minutes, 5 miles of congestion on the approach All vehicles are being moved to the hard shoulder"
Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called just before 4pm on Thursday 24 October following reports of a collision involving a car and a lorry on the M5 northbound between junctions 28 and 29 near Cullompton. Other vehicles were also caught up in the collision.
"The ambulance service was called after one female was injured. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. One lane is currently moving slowly."
