Police release video of moment lorry plunges off M6 Thelwall Viaduct
New photos showing the scale of damage caused to the HGV have also been released by Cheshire Police, along with an update on the driver.
Shortly after 6.50pm yesterday, Monday, officers were called to reports of an incident on the M6 northbound at Thelwall Viaduct.
Between junctions 20 for Woolston and 21 for Lymm, a lorry had come off the carriageway and landed on the embankment below the bridge.
Thankfully, it has been confirmed that the driver of the lorry is believed to only have suffered minor injuries in the horror crash.
Lane closures remained in place overnight on the northbound carriageway due to serious damage caused to the motorway barrier.
These closures have now been lifted this afternoon, Tuesday, following repairs to the barrier, and all lanes are now open.
