Road reopens after lorry hits bridge

A Leicestershire bridge that has seen repeated collisions has again been hit by a lorry.
The rail crossing, over the A5 at Hinckley, was struck on Wednesday morning, with the vehicle involved shedding its load.
The A5 was closed in both directions between the A47 and junction 1 of the M69, but reopened at about 10:00 BST.
Last year it was revealed the bridge had been hit by high vehicles 88 times between 2017 and September 2022.

Leicestershire Police attended the scene and arranged for recovery and clear-up works to take place, travel officers said.
Diversions were put in place via the B4114 and A47 but congestion built up around the scene.
There are no reports of any injuries
In 2023 transport body Midlands Connect analysed four of the bridge strikes and found the delays cost the economy £126,000, with rail delays costing another £43,000.
