Scottish teen charged in connection with fatal crash which killed two passengers

An 18-year-old has been charged in connection with a fatal road crash[1] in Stirling that killed two teenagers and left another in an Edinburgh hospital.

Emergency services raced to the collision involving a car and an HGV on the A91 between the Bannockburn Interchange and the Greencornhills Roundabout on Sunday, March 17. Paramedics attended but two young men were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The 18-year-old driver of the vehicle was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where medics described his condition as critical. Meanwhile, a 17-year-old female, who was in the front passenger seat was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh[2] for treatment and later released.

As the Record[5] reports, the 29-year-old male driver of the HGV was not injured following the crash. Officers investigating the incident have confirmed an 18-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The backseat passengers who were tragically killed were later named by police as Jayden McConnell, 17, and Kyle Marshall, 19.

Kyle’s family released a heartbreaking statement as they paid tribute to the late teenager.
