Police have now named a HGV driver found dead in a field along the A1 after a crash. The crash happened after the HGV left the southbound A1 carriageway, near Water Newton, Peterborough[1], at about 2.40pm on Friday (November 1).

The driver has been named as Daniel Casariu, 43, from William Street, Luton and police are looking for any witnesses or dashcam footage. Mr Casariu was pronounced dead at the scene and no other vehicles were involved, police said.

The road re-opened at about 2.30am on Saturday (November 2).

Sergeant Mark Atkins said: “I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the HGV just before the collision or has dashcam footage of it.”
