Firefighters called to two M6 motorway crashes in one hour
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service dealt with two incidents on the M6 motorway last night (November 18).
The first, shortly before 7.30pm, saw a car collided with a heavy goods vehicle on the southbound carriageway between junctions 18 and 17.
Three fire engines, from Middlewich, Holmes Chapel and Sandbach, attended the scene along with the rapid response rescue unit from Sandbach.
Fortunately, no one suffered serious injuries.
A CFRS spokesperson said: “Crews were called to multiple reports of a collision between a car and a large goods vehicle.
“Neither the five people in the car nor the driver of the lorry suffered serious injury.
“Two lanes of the motorway were closed while firefighters helped the people involved and made the vehicles safe.”
Then, at 8.27pm, CFRS were alerted to a crash on the northbound carriageway near junction 17.
On this occasion a car had hit the central reservation and flipped onto its roof.

“Firefighters were called to reports of a car in collision with central reservation and on its roof,” said a CFRS spokesperson.
“All casualties were handed to the care of ambulance crews.
