Food delivery truck crashes off M5 and ends up in a West Country field

A food delivery lorry has veered off the M5 in the West Country, crashing through a fence and coming to a halt in a field next to the motorway. Onlookers reported that paramedics were called to the scene of the accident, which occurred just off the northbound carriageway between junctions 27 and 26 close to the Devon and Somerset border. National Highways traffic cameras captured images of the vehicle, believed by witnesses to be an M&S food truck, situated in the field, with several emergency vehicles parked on the hard shoulder.

Reports suggested that traffic was managing well at present, as no lanes on the motorway are presently obstructed. An eyewitness shared: "M&S truck gone through fence and into field. Ambulance was with the driver when I passed."

"Truck is upright as the ground was level with carriageway at that point." A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police stated: "Police were called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a lorry on the northbound carriageway of the M5 between junctions 27 and 26, near Tiverton, at around 10.30am today, Friday,. November 22.

"It was reported that the lorry had left the carriageway and was in a field alongside the motorway. No injuries were reported. "Recovery has been arranged and the scene has been handed to the highways team.

The lorry driver has been reported to court for driving without due care."
