Inquest opens into death of A17 Leadenham crash victim who had ‘pure heart’
An inquest has opened into the death of a man who died in a crash[1] on a major Lincolnshire road. Lincolnshire Police[2] were called to the A17 near Leadenham on Friday, November 1 just after 2pm.
The incident involved a silver Seat Alhambra, being driven by 39-year-old Shah Muhammad, and an HGV. Mr Muhammad suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The driver of the HGV suffered minor injuries.
Senior coroner for Greater Lincolnshire, Paul Smith, opened the inquest into Mr Muhammad’s death on Thursday, November 14. The court[3] heard how Mr Muhammad lived on Wingrove Avenue in Newcastle upon Tyne.
A post-mortem examination took place at Leicester Royal Infirmary on November 7. However, the coroner explained that Mr Muhammad’s final cause of death cannot be determined yet due to outstanding medical inquiries.
While a precise medical cause of death is yet to be confirmed, Mr Smith said it will likely be related to the crash which took place on November 1. The inquest was adjourned to a provisional date of May 3, 2025.
Mr Muhammad’s family paid tribute to him following his death. They said: “Shah Muhammad was a son of a soldier. He was a great son to his mother.
“Men are what their mothers made them. His work ethic, his smile, his laugh was unmatched in this world. He was courageous and forgiving. His heart was pure with pure intentions. Words can’t describe such a man.”
Lincolnshire Police continue to investigate the crash. A spokesperson for the force said:” Investigators in the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for any witnesses to the collision who have not already spoken to police, or anyone who may have any dashcam that is relevant to the enquiry.
