Killer A500 driver, 60, jailed after death of Chris, 29
A killer A500 driver has been jailed. Alison Cooper, of Badger Brow Road, Loggerheads, was driving home from work in her Ford Fiesta when she braked harshly on the A500 thorough Barthomley. It led 29-year-old Chris Parsons, from North Wales, to take evasive action, veer onto the opposite carriageway, and crash into an oncoming car.
Now 60-year-old Cooper is today starting a 40-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. It was back in June 2022 when tragedy struck. Cooper was also handed a five-year driving ban when she was sentenced at Chester Crown Court today.
Following today’s hearing, Detective Constable Lisa Evans-Hill, from Cheshire Police, said: “This was a dangerous action on a busy road with fatal consequences. This decision to brake, caused not only Chris’ family’s lives to change forever that day, but Mrs Cooper’s as well. I hope it makes people think carefully about their actions behind the wheel.
Everyone should be aware that when they get in a vehicle, they have the potential to cause real damage and even take a life. You have not only your life in your hands but other road users and this needs to be remembered every time you make that journey. Please drive carefully and safely for everyone’s sake.”
