Live: A42 delays build after ‘offal shed’ in three-vehicle crash
Drivers were warned of long delays after the A42 in Leicestershire was closed after a crash involving three vehicles. The collision between a lorry and two cars resulted in offal being shed onto the road surface, according traffic monitoring service Inrix. The A42 was closed southbound as a result between Junction 12 B4116 Measham Road (Measham/Ashby-de-la-Zouch) and M42 Junction 11 (Burton-Upon-Trent).
Congestion was reported to just after J11. All traffic was stopped at around 5.30pm before the road was fully closed. National Highways confirmed traffic officers were at the scene, with diversions in place.
It said: “The A42 in Leicestershire is closed southbound between J12 (Packington) and J11 M42/A444 near (Appleby Magna) due to a collision which has resulted in a spillage. National Highways Traffic Officers and Service Providers are on scene.” This is a breaking news story.
