Lorry smashes into town pub causing ‘severe damage’
Crews from Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service were called to the Three Fishes pub in Shrewsbury at 5.29am on Monday 11 November after receiving reports a lorry had smashed into two buildings near Bayston Hill, as reported by The Shropshire Star[1].
Three fire appliances, including a rescue tender and a short extension ladder, were mobilised from Shrewsbury and Wellington and an operations officer attended the scene, according to an incident report from Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service.
Alternative routes
The Land Ambulance Service and local police also attended the incident. One casualty was reported.
According to the incident report the person was trapped in a vehicle and was released by the fire service using cutting equipment.
The A49 road remained blocked by emergency vehicles at Bayston Hill following the collision and road users were advised to seek alternative routes until further notice.
Catastrophic accident
In a social media post on its Facebook page, the pub described the incident as a “catastrophic accident”.
The post said: “So as you’re already aware a catastrophic accident has happened at the Three Fishes this morning.
“It has caused severe structural damage to the premises. However, everyone is ok. The pub will be closed for the foreseeable future. Will post again in the coming week but trying to process everything right now.”
