The M6 this morning
The M6 will remain closed in one direction today after a fatal crash on the motorway.
One person died and several others suffered serious injuries[8] in the crash that happened when a lorry heading northbound on the M6 crossed onto the southbound carriageway, overturned, and crashed into oncoming traffic.
The incident happened at around 11.20am yesterday (6 November) and the M6 was closed in both directions between junction 32 for Broughton and junction 33 for Lancaster South for the rest of the day.
The northbound carriageway was reopened at around 4am this morning (6 November) but the southbound carriageway is now expected to stay closed ‘throughout the day’ while resurfacing work takes place.
One lane on the northbound carriageway is closed for emergency barrier repairs.
The A6 is showing heavy congestion as southbound traffic follows the diversion route.
Police are appealing for witnesses as a result of the crash. Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information can call police on 101 quoting log 0564 of today. You can also email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at [email protected]
