Motorway partially reopens after fatal lorry crash

A motorway has partially reopened following a fatal crash in which a lorry overturned, hit the central reservation and landed on the opposite carriageway, hitting the back of a car.

The M6 was shut in both directions between Junctions 33 near Lancaster and 32 near Preston after the crash at about 11:20 GMT on Wednesday.

National Highways said that while two lanes of the northbound carriageway had reopened at about 04:00 GMT, the outside lane would remain closed while repairs were completed.

Drivers heading south have been warned to expect diversions and delays.
