Police issue statement as Staffordshire drivers face speed camera double trouble

Police have issued a statement – after a mobile speed camera van was spotted yards from a new fixed AI camera on a busy road. The speed camera van was spotted on the A449 Moss Pit, in Stafford[1], earlier this month.

It was parked on a grass verge around 160-metres away from a fixed speed camera. The van was positioned in the dip of a hill where motorists come off a railway bridge before embarking up a hill, with this section of the road having a 30mph speed limit.

Now Staffordshire Police[2] have defended the speed camera double trouble.

A Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership spokesman said: “It is important that road users maintain a safe speed on all roads, driving to the conditions. Speed limits are a maximum on any given stretch of road. We use a blended enforcement approach which can include using both fixed and mobile cameras on the same road. All of our enforcement activity aims to support road safety by encouraging compliance with speed limits.”
