Police statement after mobile speed camera seen yards from new AI fixed camera
Staffordshire Police has issued a statement after a mobile speed camera was spotted yards from a new fixed AI camera on a busy road. The speed camera van was spotted on the A449 Moss Pit in Stafford earlier this month.
It was parked on a grass verge at the side of the road, around 160m away from a fixed speed camera that’s already further along the road. The van was positioned in the dip of a hill where motorists come off a railway bridge before embarking up a hill, with this section of the road having a 30mph speed limit.
Staffordshire[1] Police said the mobile speed camera was used to encourage motorists’ compliance with speed limits. A spokesperson for Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership said: “It is important that road users maintain a safe speed on all roads, driving to the conditions. Speed limits are a maximum on any given stretch of road.
