Police warn of speed cameras in Moray

Mobile speed cameras are to be set up on a road that’s seen several serious accidents in the recent past.

Police Scotland will be using laser technology to monitor the A941 at Longmorn in Moray over the coming weeks.

The move comes in response to a survey that showed just over a quarter of drivers are currently going too fast on the stretch of road which connects Elgin and Rothes.

The A941 at Longmorn is single carriageway with a 60mph limit.

It was highlighted as a specific area of concern after three serious and one fatal collision occurred nearby.

Eric Dunion, the manager of Police Scotland’s safety camera unit, said: “The A941 is sadly the scene of many collisions with many being contributed to inappropriate speed for the road conditions.

“We are aware that this is a popular route with motorcyclists and visitors to the area, who are maybe unfamiliar with the local road network, exploring the area.

“We will be deploying our mobile camera vans at Longmorn on a regular basis to encourage motorists to improve their driver behaviour and adhere to the speed limits that are in place for the safety of all road users.”
