Serious Lanarkshire M8 crash leaves 21-year-old in hospital and road closed overnight
Police[1] are appealing for information following a serious crash on the M8. The M8 westbound near junction 7 at Coatbridge was closed overnight following a crash involving a black Corsa and HGV. The incident happened at around 12.55am on November 26, with officers now appealing for witnesses.
The 21-year-old driver of the Corsa was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment – their current condition remains unknown. The 59-year-old driver of the HGV was uninjured. The road re-opened around six hours later at 6.45am this morning.
Sergeant Elaine Scott of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our investigation into this serious crash continues and I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened, or has relevant dash cam footage, to please get in touch. “The road was closed for around six hours to allow enquiries to be carried out. “Information can be passed to Police Scotland by calling 101, and quoting reference 0116 of 26 November, 2024.”
