Three-vehicle crash closes A46 for several hours

A three-vehicle crash closed a busy A road tonight (Wednesday). Police warned drivers to avoid the area of the A46 Lincoln Bypass following the incident, which was first reported at 4.56pm. Traffic monitoring system Inrix reported that the vehicles involved were a car, a van and a coach.

It's currently unknown if there are any casualties. The crash took place between the Whisby and Pennells roundabouts. The road was fully reopened and cleared of traffic shortly after 7pm.

Lincolnshire Police said: "Motorists are likely to face delays following a three-vehicle collision on the A46 Lincoln bypass. The collision, involving three vehicles, happened between the Whisby and Pennells roundabouts. "Drivers should avoid the area, where possible."
